I am still trying to figure out what my literacy narrative
is going to be about. I haven’t had a specific event or time that has
influenced my understandings of literacy. I have always liked to read ever
since I was really little. It has always been one of my favorite things to do
and a few people led me to really enjoy reading. I just don’t know how I can
relate anything to those experiences. It is so hard for me to put my thoughts
and words onto paper. I guess I am just going to have to do a lot of
brainstorming and devote most of today and tomorrow working on my rough draft.

writing
So I am sitting here struggling on how to start
my narrative. I really have never been that good at writing, which is kind of
surprising. I’ve only had to write papers, narratives, and poems since I was in
elementary school. I even took a writing enrichment class. I don’t mind when I
am given a specific topic to write about such as in essays or research papers.
My teacher had us write an essay every single day to prepare for the ACT in my junior
year English class. I just don’t do well with the more creative types of writing
like in narratives. I don’t know what it is, I like to read, but I am still
working on improving my writing. I am just going to have to work extra hard on
this narrative and the class

My weekend :)
I have been having such a great weekend. I hung out with my best
friend, Ashley on Friday and Saturday. I missed her so much and we had a lot of
fun catching up. It was the first we seen each other in a month, which is a
long time since we never went longer then seeing each other for like a week.
She has been my best friend since second grade. I also got to spend time with
another good friend also named Ashley. I went to the Oktoberfest in Frankenmuth
with my sister and her boyfriend, but I couldn’t do much since I am not old
enough to drink, lol. Today is just a lazy day, doing homework and about to eat
dinner with the family, then it’s back to Kalamazoo!

Weekend!
I am so ready for the weekend! This feels like it has been
the longest week ever to me. I have one more class to go (biology) and then I am
heading straight home! I’m excited to be home, even though I was home last
weekend too. This will be the last weekend in awhile that I will be going home
though. I’m really looking forward to seeing my friends since I didn’t get to
last weekend. I’m riding home with my sister this time and we will probably go
to the Oktoberfest in Frankenmuth. This is one of my favorite things to do in
the fall. I can’t wait for the weekend to start… only 3 more hours! J

Poem
So far, I am enjoying the English
1050 class. The assignments we do are fun and creative. I like reading poems
and the book, “The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks” is interesting. On
Wednesday, we read two poems in class and discussed them. We were also assigned
to write our own poem titled “Where I’m from”. This assignment has taken me a
couple days to finish; I admit I’m not the best poem writer and sometimes
struggle writing them. This is a good way to improve my skills though, because
it is poem about something I know and that I’m very familiar with. It also
makes it a little easier to write the poem since I decided to come home this
weekend and I was able to get more ideas on writing it by being here.

About Me :)
Hi! My name is Allison Marie Kasper. I am 18 years old and from a small town named Vassar, Michigan, which is 3 hours away. I lived alone with my parents for the past 4 years since I am the youngest of all my siblings. I have one brother, 2 sisters, and a cat. I like to be outdoors but I am also addicted to my computer and phone. I spent my summer working as a waitress at the "world-famous" restaurant called Zehnder's in Frankenmuth, Michigan. I have worked there since the beginning of my junior year. I also spent my summer babysitting my almost 6 month old nephew, spending time with my friends and family, and going to Caseville. Caseville is another small town in the thumb of Michigan for those of you who may have not heard about it. It is located on Lake Huron and is popular for its beaches and very fun festivals in the summer. I love to go to the beach there, go on the boat/jetskis, tubing, and swimming. My favorite season is summer but I also enjoy fall. I like Western so far, even though it is far from my home, family, and friends. But I think I am starting to adjust to my new life and really enjoying it.
